I'm curious to know if "wait pool" or "waitlist" is just a gentler way of saying no. Aside from ourselves, other parents were waitlisted as well, and no one received any rejections.

I too wonder how many get off the waitlist. If it's SM/Hockaday/Greenhill, a wait pool response likely means a no. At the college level, there is a lot more waitlisting going on. They are doing that to manage their yield and pick who they want to make the right class mix.

In at Jesuit! .

Sorry to hear some did not get in at their hoped for school. . But I know all your children will be just fine with such supportive parents!

Congrats to those that got their acceptances!

We were expecting a Hockaday no (everyone told us her late summer bday wouldn’t cut it for pre-K). Hoping this year’s wait pool offer is at least a good sign for next year when she’s on the older side of the applicant pool!

Congrats to all who received good news today!

So does anyone know the answer to this? Is wait pool the same as a decline? I know at the Dallas ISD Magnets, there is a difference between the two. But am not as familiar with this private school thing.

On the day my son took the ISEE, the director of admissions said at SMS they don’t like to wait list a lot of students because the list doesn’t move much. So, we’re not holding our breath that he’ll get an offer between now and August.

We have friends whose children were declined today.
