Can I pay property tax monthly to the county instead of one big payment at year end? I don't have an escrow with the bank. I am not sure if Collin County takes pre-payment (city tax and ISD tax).

Has anyone done this before with Collin County?

Thanks!

Why would you want to do that? Can't you invest that money and get 2-5% in a good fund and pay it at the end of the year?

I don't think the tax district will accept your money yet.

I just bank it until due, then write the check.

I don't know if you can do it monthly, but I know my mother used to do it quarterly (not sure if that is an option or not anymore, this was several years ago.) You can call up the appraiser's office and ask.

WHY?

Keep your money! Hold onto it! Even if you only make 1%, that’s still something and more than you did have.

If you think you will spend it, open up a free savings account at your bank and make monthly payments to yourself. Then transfer it over to your checking account at year end to pay your property taxes. If you get lucky and do not need it and can pay out of what you have in checking already, you’ve started a nice little savings account.
