Yesterday I lost my AirPods, the case and the buds, in a car dealership while my car was being serviced. I couldn’t find it before I was ready to leave so I looked for it everywhere. The people in the dealership also helped me look everywhere but we didn’t see it. I used “Find My” app and it showed the AirPods was somewhere in the dealership but we just couldn’t see it. The dealership was closing so I had to leave. They promised to keep an eye on it.

Last night around 10pm I checked the “Find My” app and the AirPods were shown to be in some apartment in Dallas. It shows an address. Someone moved it! I almost wanted to go to the apartment but my husband stopped me saying I couldn’t knock door by door and it was not safe.

This morning the AirPods are still in that apartment! What should I do to recover it? I plan to call the dealership to see if they know the address of their cleaning crew and if they can somehow contact them. But if not, what should I do? Call the police? Maybe I can just show up with my husband? It’s a two-story apartment complex, can’t be that many doors to knock…

Call police over $200 (max) airpods?

Call the dealer and ask them to help. If not chalk up to you losing the item and replace. Airpods get disgusting and lose battery life anyway.

Is there a community room, general mailbox room or laundry rooms in that apartment complex?
I would print several posters, post them there and ask nicely to return the iPods to the office, then pickup from the apartment office once they are returned.
Go to the office first and ask if this is allowed or ask for suggestions.

I wonder if someone from the dealership lives in that apartment complex...
Perhaps you could return to the dealership and show them your finding.

Thank you so much! That's great advice. I'll try that.

Take a screenshot of your finding in case the battery stop working and it won't show on your future search. So you have saved the last location.
