I am looking to get a water softener installed. My home has the water main in the front of the house and the garage is at the back. One contractor mentioned that he could dig and route the main line to the garage and install the softener there rather than digging in the ground. Another contractor said that this would reduce the water pressure so he would leave it outside tucked away in a corner in the front but leave it above the ground. Both recommended against the in-ground option. I prefer the softener to be in the garage, away from the elements, but I am worried about water pressure and potential leaks.
