I know quite a few boys that got into Cistercian and SM and will choose SM. I can think of 3 off the top of my head.

AGAIN - GH would need to have a larger % than normal amount of boys pick SM over GH in order for the waitlist to actually move. GH admits more 5th graders than they have spots open because they know they are not the first choice for 100% of applicants. So for example, if recent history shows that 65% of 5th grade boys accept their spots (let’s say they need to offer 15 boys admission to fill 10 boy spots in the grade), then more than 5 boys need to decline before GH pulls from WL.

Now in a non-expansion grade like 4th or 6th, it’s more likely that 1 decline = 1 WL pull because they are filling exact spaces vacated by students leaving.

Sorry to keep harping on this but I think fuels a lot of false hope for WL students because in reality the WL won’t ever move much if at all at schools like GH, Hock & SM. They are VERY good at predicting yields in expansion grades.

Make sense.
Any idea about how many kids usually on the WL?

I sent an email to express our continued interest to one of the schools where my kid is waitlisted for first grade, and they replied "We will know more after this Friday at 4:00 p.m. when all accepted students have to give us a decision but unfortunately, we do expect to be fully enrolled." So very little hope...
