I need suggestions for decent apts 650 or less (1 bdr) anywhere in dallas. All the ones I seem to find when I check thier apts ratings they are horrible.

STAY AWAY!!!! These apartments were a standing joke when I was in high school in the 80's. Went to some great parties there, though. It's where all of the 'just graduated from high school, leased an expensive car, and got two roommates' people lived...

I checked out the website for Country Square in Carrollton off Marsh Lane near Beltline. I remembered them from an aide I had at school. They offer a small 1 bedroom for around 550.00 according to their web site. That is a fairly nice area even though the apts. are around 25+ years old. I use to live in Country Place. They keep the apt. homes in that area pretty nice as the homes in that area are nice.

Check out The Courtyard in Garland. They are located on Buckingham and Shiloh. It is another older complex, but they are very well maintained. There are car break ins in the area, but no major/violent crime. Their one bedrooms start at $635/mo.

It's not a real big complex, mostly one bedrooms and a few two bedrooms. It's really quite, few if any children live there.

Turtle Dove on Matilda is very cheap and you can walk to Lower Greenville - also it's kind of old and rundown, but there are some redevelopments going up which are very upscale. Would be great to stroll to Corner Market every day.

Also there are some less expensive apartments in a good location (with free shuttle to SMU and DART station a couple blocks away) in the area bounded by Greenville Ave, Lover's Lane, Skillman and DART rail - E. University runs through - zip 75214. Similarly, a lot of the older complexes there are being redeveloped but there are also several complexes converted to condos - many owner-occupants keep the area nice.

Is the apartment called "Turtle Dove on Matilda" or is it "Turtle Dove" and its on Matilda Street, Lane or Ave.

The less expensive apartments in a good location (with free shuttle to SMU and DART station a couple blocks away) ... any idea of some names that I can google?

uh, well, that was 20 years ago! when was the last time you were there? MANY 20-30+ year old people live in that area. it's not the party neighborhood it was ages ago. there are some smu students that live there, but it's mostly post college people that want a decent area to live in that is close to just about anything to do in dallas.

I was wondering about that. The village seemed kinda fine to me except for the fact the apts were kinda small but that is what you get for $650.00

I drove through a large portion of the Village in May, and it was a dump! Just as I remembered it! Except it has been a HARD 20 years; the complex has NOT aged gracefully!
