My stepdad is turning the big 5-0. He's a kid at heart tho and a total candy junkie so we'd like to help further rot his teeth on this momentous occasion.

After his b-day meal, we thought it might be fun to turn him loose in a candy store since he couldn't care less about ice cream and cake. Problem is, no one in our family eats candy except him. Google and Yelp didn't yield many results. What I'm hoping for, preferably, is an old time-y kind of store with candy in barrels and oodles of selections. (Not just a bakery/florist/gift shop that happens to carry some dainty chocolates and more 'gourmet' kind of options.) Currently he gets his Swedish Fish and jawbreaker fix from the bulk section of Central Market but that's not exactly what I'm after...

There used to be a cute place at West End that fit the bill, but now all I'm seeing is a chain called Sweet Factory that has mall locations. Is that a fun place? Any other suggestions? Surely somewhere around the metroplex there must be a town square or two with an old fashioned candy shop?!

TIA

the store that popped into my mind is one that is located in Garland in Firewheel mall- Candy World - Garland, TX 75040 | Firewheel Town Center
It has a whole lot of candy-that is all they have pretty much. I just don't know if it is exactly what you are looking for.

Mom and Popcorn is one of the BEST things about McKinney!

I loved going in there with my kids. Last year, about this time, the Jelly Belly RV made a stop there and we took the kids out of school early for the day so we could go "play". So much fun, great variety, nostalgic candy and homemade fudges too. Barrels of hard candies, salt water taffy and they have candy 'merchandise' too. For Christmas last year, I got the kids metal lunchbox tins (with fun, nostalgic logos) from there and some cute novelty candies too.

I saw Mom & Popcorn on a special on TV (local TV showing interesting places in DFW). Gotta vouch for that, has to be THE place to get candy in DFW. (And popcorn too, they make so many different kinds of popcorn daily it's crazy).

I saw a Candy Store (and I forgot its name) on the west side of I35 South. This was as I came from Denton. And I wanted to go in, but my low fuel light was on, so I decided I needed gas. I wish I could remember exactly where it was and the name. Looked yummy.
