I haven't put much research into this yet, but as we steadily plug away at the project list (which, incidentally seems to grow faster than I can scratch things off... lol) - and as there have been some projects that I have needed an extra pair of hands for an hour here or a short consultation call about there - it struck me. Is there some sort of a "Home Improvement DIY Network" in the DFW area? Something where people can bounce ideas off of each other, maybe get together now and then to help each other on items that one person can't do (could be as simple as a painting party or simply an open house where people share pictures, ideas and discuss future plans).

Especially considering the macro housing economy, I would think that people wanting to "spruce up" what they have would be even more prevalent today than it was when the housing market was really booming. What are your thoughts?

I'm thinking for the beginner DIY - they would benefit greatly from having access to more experienced DIY folks. People could share techniques/tips for doing things easier - like how to tile (using spacers properly, using painters tape to hold each row together so they don't shift, etc) or painting techniques or drywall techniques (when to use paper tape -vs- when to use mesh fiberglass and the differences between different drywall compounds) or just their favorite products and experiences. That - and possibly bartering for help (i.e. a guy I work with is helping me next Saturday to finish insulating my attic - then we are going to his house to do his). And for the more advanced, experienced DIY folks - they could share their knowledge, either through conversation/tips or even by getting a helper for a day on one of their projects!

Do you think there would be much interest?

Brian
