For the amount you would spend at Creme, I would suggest checking out Primrose instead. They're pricey too but the parents I know whose kids go there really seem to like it. My son goes to TLC and we love it. We pay $205/wk for our 15 month old and then $60/month for the supply fee. They also have all the extracurriculars, spanish, computers, etc that the other pricier places have.

Ive been to a couple creme de la creme preschools to look at the roofs and bid on doing work there. I noticed that some of them have small water parks inside them. I think what your paying for is all the fancy amenities. I dont think any preschool is going to make much of a difference on how smart a child becomes. Whats important is that they are safe and treated well when they are in the daycare.

Oh and I never got any work from those people. They may charge a lot to take care of your kids but they are cheap when it comes to repairing and replacing their roofs.

Its actually closer to $1,500 for kids under 15 months...$1,400 up to 24 months...then its around $1,200...they also have to wear a uniform that you buy from them...the place is more for the parents than the kids

"the place is more for the parents than the kids"

I came to that conclusion based simply on the name of the place. This is a pre-school for the affluent folks to brag about. I'm sure they have great amenities but I doubt a kid will gain many IQ points from attending the place.

It's not for everyone. It is for the elite. Most kids that go there will go to private schools such as Hockaday. My friend's kid went there and at the age of 5 she was reading at the level of a 3rd grader. They do more than just watch the kids, they get all the homework done with the kids which will include tutoring. It is indeed the Creme de la Creme...

I do think that it is a waste of money for infants and that is indeed more of a perk for the parent's peace of mind.

I still think it's crazy. Children that young don't need all that. You know the joke about getting a little kid a gift and all they want to do is play with the box? They need to be playing with boxes! I truly believe that the kid in kinder reading at a 3rd grade level would be doing so regardless of the whether they attend Creme de la Creme (egads the name just irritates me) or a good church preschool, for example, if they have attentive parents, are read to regularly, and have access to books. And if this precocious reading really was due to the education at the school, then what's the point?
I'm not coming down on you, Naima. These posts just got me thinking. I really find it depressing that little kids are being pushed so hard, and to what end? So that we can say that Johnny was reading on a 3rd grade level in kinder? Sorry this is so long winded. I'll stop now!

I believe in more developmental preschool. We are from Europe and children have 2nd language at home. My 2nd grader tasted at 8th grade at reading. I don't believe in too much academics before elementary school. Children need to enjoy learning and school. That is the most important.
