Hi,
We're planning to move to Dallas in October/Nov this year. My daughter is 5 year old and given that we wont be there in September, will the schools give admission to kindergarten, if we are not there before September?

I believe the answer is yes.

However, you should really call the school district for the area you plan to move to just to make sure. Personally, if you can pull it off, you should move out early and let your 5 year old start school with the others. it makes a big difference to them when they are that age.

I can say this because it is what I'm doing now.....living out here till the school year is out in San Diego. It's depressing at times being away from my kids, but I'm dealing with it because I know it's the best thing for them.

Starting school after it starts is really hard on a little one.

I would call the school for sure where you live but I truly don't see a problem. You could homeschool your child till you move. That is always an option, that way it won't be such a hard transition if you have to move them from one school to the next.

As long as your child is 5 by Sept. 1, they can go to any public kindergarten in the Dallas area.
