In 24th District's Congressman Kenny Marchant's recent newsletter, he announced that Dr. Brian Horn, a teacher at Carrollton's Creekview High School, was awarded the annual Humanities Texas 2011 Outstanding Teaching Award, having been selected out of nearly 230 nominees.

Per the newsletter,
Quote:
Dr. Horn has been teaching at Creekview High School since 1999. Not only does he balance teaching AP human geography and AP U.S. government, he also designed and implements a law-focused curriculum within the school’s Law and Criminal Justice Academy. Dr. Horn also founded Creekview High School’s mock trial program. Additionally, he serves as a mentor for entry-year teachers and is a member of campus leadership committees.

He also honored Lt. Colonel James Megellas of Colleyville as his newest Star of the 24th -
Quote:
Mr. Megellas served in World War II as a commanding officer earning numerous decorations including the Purple Heart, Silver Star, and the Distinguished Service Cross.

Quite impressive individuals we're proud to have in our area! See complete write-ups for each in the 11/30/11 newsletter.
