Lots of cute bungalows, again. But many apartments, and many of the places are also getting torn down and redeveloped. Also, pockets of iffy here as well, between Cedar Springs and Maple, I-35 and Oak Lawn. There is a public housing project and some other very scary looking older apartments.

Hope this helps!

Badger, if I may , make an addendum to your OakLawn description. I first moved there in '69. There was no DFW, only Love Field. The area wasn't gay then and had few, if any clubs. It was mostly residential and some pilots and stewardesses.

I then moved to Houston for a couple of decades, then returned to OakLawn in the mid nineties. Imagine my surprise.

Love Field was practically desolate, but OakLawn still had its pilots and stewardesses. Some were even with the airlines. Okay, that was tongue in cheek.

Stook - I think you will make more money on a single family house in East Dallas. You may meet more corporate types in Uptown if that is what you are seeking, but I would say the friendlier people are here and you will remain friends not just acquaintances. I can give you more info about Junius Heights if you PM me... understand also that you will probably be doing work to any house in JH rather than the move-in ready townhouse. BTW, we also have a lot of townhomes going up around Lower Greenville and the Henderson/Fitzhugh area east of Central.

Just to be clear, I don't particularly want a townhouse... As it happens, there is a house for rent that I found in Junius Heights that seems to have been fully redone. The rent is very reasonable, I think. That said, we were hoping to be closer to either white rock lake or the katy trail. Perhaps I will go check it out. I'm not sure I have even driven through this neighborhood, although I do know the WRL area and have been around the mansions on Swiss. I'll send you a quick PM with some additional thoughts.

thanks!

Default In a different direction

Have you looked into the Oak Cliff, Kessler Park area? There are some beautiful homes there, and a high rise apt. complex called The Wedgwood Towers that are undergoing extensive updates. It has a mix of elderly people and young professionals there, and the rent rates are pretty good.
