Texas has many borders, - with states. La. OK. AR. and NM. Not just the border with Mexico.

I didn't take Fratermus comment to imply you crossed the Mexican border to get here. I don't believe that was what he implied, I think he was making a joke about gun-loving Texas, that they give you a gun when you cross over from OK, or La., along with a Dallas Cowboys jersey.

Maybe he'll speak for himself.

That's funny. I think the wall they've been talking about should be along the Red River. Gotta keep those Okies out since I'm not sure they speak English and they hurt our school systems.

Ummm, Texas has a lot of borders with other states - like say Louisiana.

Have you seen the people sneaking in from La? They're even worse.

(Just kidding, I have great in-laws, all from La.)

Violent crime happens on national average of every 60 seconds. Texas is not any different. Higher in the larger cities and lower in the smaller ones. Still happens everywhere. I would rather have a gun/handgun and never need to use it, than need to use one and not have one.

I wear a seat belt in a some what similiar way. I do not plan on getting into an accident. But if an accident finds me, I would would rather be wearing it.

Whats a common/preferred hand gun of choice to keep in a home for self protection?
A Glock? Taurus?

Glock, Ruger, Springfield Armory, are all good guns. There is a good gun forum that shares a lot of detailed info, good and bad, about many of the brands/calibers.

If you plan on shooting as a hobby get the automatic. ie Glock or XD. 9mm or .45 auto.

Dont plan on shooting as a hobby get a revolver. Charter Arms or Taurus. 38 special or 44 special.

anyone who would shoot someone over a stupid verbal remark obviously does not need to have access to any gun--much less own one...

To anyone planning to get a gun, you have to try shooting it first. I found out that many were too heavy for me to hold steady.
