I am moving from a fantastic Atlanta suburb to the DFW area - husband working in Lewisville. I am looking for a great neighborhood (with good schools) that my young girls will enjoy...price range 800K to 1M...NO NEGATIVE posts about the price range please...

Castle Hills would be a great match for you - lots of selection right in your price range, great schools, lots of kids and very family friendly. Check out this thread (pictures on pages 3 & 6) - http://www.city-data.com/forum/dalla...ewisville.html.

Southlake or Westlake would be the best choice....They also IMO offer the best real estate appreciation prospects.

These small school Districts are topped ranked in the State...along with Highland Park in Dallas.

I think the best public schools in the Atlanta area are in Roswell and Peach Tree city are they not? We thought these schools in Texas were much better than even those, we flew to Atlanta one time because we thought we had to move there and did research on the schools.

I would definitely look at Westlake with the Westlake IB school--if you are not worried about any financial concerns--employment is stable--and so on
I think you could get a deal on a house in Westlake Vacquero neighborhood--might not have that many young families/children there--it is VERY upscale--that is where the Jonas brothers bought house several months ago--private top-quality golf course with several PGA pros living there as well--but living in Westlake has guaranteed admission to the Westlake Academy

Lewsiville also has some nice neighborhoods and top-rated schools as does southlake and colleyville--which are great family oriented neighborhoods and good schools...
it is not a bad commute from 114/121 area to Lewisville depending on where you need to go
if it is more northern part then you might consider Bartonville area

I would go with southlake or west plano. try looking at zip codes 76092 (southlake) or 75093 (west plano). once you find a house you are interested in, you would need to check and see which schools the house goes to (they can vary and cross city lines. for example, some of 75093 is lewisville isd.)

where in lewisville will your husband be working? that might help determine where you live- traffic can be a bear.

I agree. With your price range, Southlake, Westlake and West Plano are really the best options. Keller and Flower Mound are in a different league.

Do you live in Cumming? I have relatives there! I would go with Southlake (that feeds into Carroll school distirct).

If you also want some acreage there is a section of Flower Mound (you're not going to find it unless you look for it) where you can get a $500k plus home with at least an acre. It's a nice neighborhood and there are kids also.

Another thought would be Lantana, tons of families and lots of kids all different ages. Downside is school district being in denton county. The commute to Lewisville (depending on where in Lewisville) wouldn't be too bad. Definitely have homes in your price range.

I will recommend either Flower Mound, or Southlake. Excellent schools, and great neighborhoods. Besides, Lewisville is right next to my neighborhood (Flower Mound).

Also consider Colleyville. There are homes there well within your price range, and the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD is very well-regarded.
