Definitely live in town (south of Loop 12/ Northwest Hwy). You'll pay more, but you'll also have all of Dallas on your doorstep. People who live farther out just don't come "downtown" as often as they think they will. Even if your job is in a suburb, I highly recommend you live in town, just for the first year at least, so you can make friends & get involved.

Neighborhoods:
Knox/ Henderson- west of 75. Great walkable neighborhood with mix of condos & apartments, new & old. Boutiques, bars, & restaurants (many with sidewalk cafes) dot the neighborhood. Adjacent to Katy Trail (jogging/biking path that cuts from Victory Park to White Rock Lake). Adjacent to Highland Park, exclusive part of Dallas. Very safe area with the occasional car break-in.

M Streets- east of 75 from Mockingbird south to Henderson. Neighborhood full of 20s-40s singles, couples, & young families. Mostly single family houses built in the 1930s-1940s, but duplexes & small apartment buildings to be found. Check Craig's List. Picture perfect neighborhood where American flags hang outside & neighbors chat in their yards in the evening. Greenville Avenue cuts through the area & is full of restaurants, bars, & live music venues.

Lastly, check out Power Properties' website. They have a ton of rentals in the Lakewood area (farther east than M Streets). Lots of the complexes are small, think Melrose Place - sized, where neighbors cook out & become friends. Lakewood is really laid back with a cute shopping center complete with vintage theatre. Also great if you like to be outside, as White Rock Lake is nearby & has a 9 mile loop around for jogging or cycling.

Honestly, it is hard to make friends here unless you really put yourself out there. Lots of people grew up here or went to SMU & already have a ton of friends. But we're always happy to expand the circle, you've just gotta make the effort.

Also, check out some of these organizations online. I think it's worth the money to join 1-2 to get out there & be forced to mingle
Junior League of Dallas - intense volunteer org of women. Must complete "provisional" year with special meetings & project ( like spending 4 Saturdays rehabbing a playground in a lower income area). That is the year you make a ton of friends!

Dallas Museum of Art's Junior Associates Circle- mixture of social events, like happy hours & Christmas party, with gallery tours, artist studio tours, lectures, etc.

Ronald McDonald House Young Friends- professional 20 & 30-somethings. Mix of happy hours with fundraising events.

I am not a runner, but a store here called Luke's Locker does group training for half & whole marathons. My friend met her husband there!

Scottish Rite Hospital or Children's Medical Center- lots of young professional women volunteer at both. 2-4 evenings per month.

I'll keep thinking...

Wherever you end up, take the chance to start over from scratch. Be yourself & just follow what your passions are. You never know when you're going to meet someone. If you follow a particular college football team, put on your jersey & head out to the sports bars in Saturdays in the fall. If you like art, join the "young professionals" group at the museum. If you like wine or reading, join a club. If you like to volunteer, join the Junior League.

You just never know how you're going to meet "the one." A girl in your scrapbooking class could have a brother. A guy at the bar could have a roomate who is perfect for you.

What I will say for Dallas is that people LOVE to set their friends up on dates. It is truly a Southern, traditional dating city. Yes, there's the hooking up scene, too, but if you are ready to get married, there are a ton of great guys looking for the same thing here.

Also- church is big in Dallas. Huge singles groups at many of the non-denominational churches, like Watermark, Northwest Bible, and Fellowship.

At the end of the day, guys are just looking for the girl they want as their partner & wife, to walk through life with. The gorgeous girl is fun for a while, but if she doesn't have brains, opinions, a big heart & good attitude, she's either not the one or she'll end up being "wife #1".
Where? WHERE!?!?!?!?! Tell me!

The hottest women I have ever seen are in Florida. Specifically when I was in college at the University of Central Florida.

One other spot is at the HardRock hotel and casino in Hollywood Florida. That place always seems to have the sexiest women on the planet!

if you drive a fancy car and dress to impress, love the Dallas Cowboys and can fish you will probably beat out the hottest woman..

sounds shallow I know but it is what I have observed.

Then I guess I'm in trouble. At least I can fish. That sounds like more of a list that woman would want in a guy, not the other way around. If guys are that into what a woman's car is, that sounds pretty gay to me. Do the guys also carry little dogs in pink Prada bags?

These last two are far more important than the first two.
Replace the Cowboys with "Texas Longhorns" for bonus points.

Again, Florida has much more plastic than Dallas does. They look good throughout most of the South pretty naturally, but Texas does it the best. Florida has a more cosmopolitan/NY-LA feel and a lot of the women, though great looking naturally, feel the need to surgically enhance themselves to compete, which really lowers them in my books.

Man, if they all look so good there, that scares me. I'm not gross, but definitely not some overly tanned, bleached blonde with fake boobs. Hopefully there are some guys out there in Dallas who aren't into that look.

They're actually hotter in Austin.

Good stock from wealthy Spanish families going back a few hundred years combined with German immigration to central Texas in the 1800's has made world class beauties rivaled only by Brazilians or Australians.

The women here are fit.
