Here's a factoid that might be of interest to those who plan to move here... over the last century, the weather in DFW has gotten progressively colder.

I know it's cold today, and in my neighborhood we had a lot of snow this morning... very unusual for December 2. But that's just weather. Climate is recorded at 30 year intervals.

A fellow at the Migrant Mind blog obtained the weather charts for Weatherford, Texas, west of Fort Worth. He found that from 1902 to 2008, the day of the first freeze tended to come earlier. And also, the day of the last winter freeze before spring tended to come later and later in the year.

The DFW winters are getting longer.

That's very strange, since the population of DFW certainly had an increase in its carbon footprint from 1902 to 2008. And a massive growth in population.

I just saw the local meteorologist on CH. 11 mention a few days ago that the first freeze in Dallas used to be 3 or 4 days earlier than it is now and the last freeze comes earlier...and he attributed that to the urban heat island affect...but I suppose when you look at freak weather anommolies like the snow and cold, it makes it seem like it is global cooling...but in two weeks watch it be in the 70s....the weather here seems to be so erratic who can even tell for sure one way or another.
