Can anyone tell me is it a hiring freeze with Dallas County? I would like to become a Juvenile Probation Officer after graduation in May. I see alot of JPO opening for Dallas County that are usually not available, anybody have any idea why?????? Is it easier to get hire with the state in this area???? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

check the TX workforce commission job site--state hiring board
all state jobs are listed there and if there is hiring freeze there is usually a notice to that effect

this job is posted for the Dallas district
Job Description (http://austin.tyc.state.tx.us/CfInternet/job_posting/jobDescription.cfm?jobID=239 - broken link)
says open til filled--that would not seem to indicate a hiring freeze but it does say open to DYC employees only--so they are filling from within which is basically the same thing

Thank you lovetoread. I have been checking the site workintexas, I think it may be a related site. Yes, I am discourage when I see "open until filled". I really like when the agencies post an "Open" and "Close" date. I realllly wish this economy would get better very quick!!!

I am thinking about becoming a probation officer, but I am farely skinny. Do you get physical training to become a probation officer? Or do you already have to be in shape?
