Neither team will probably last long. I know some wonder why minor league teams struggle around here (other than the Dragons), but it is really tough to get people interested in such low level sports, unless it is a main sport (like baseball). It can't be easy to get people to come watch some unpaid soccer players play in a really low division.

I think this would be a mistake. Just build a new arena. The amount of work that needs to be done to the current one will take too long and cost too much money. If they just do minor things, like I expect, they will just have to renovate it again in ten years. I love UD Arena, but it is too old and needs too much work.

It's possible that the study may yield a recommendation of a new arena like you are saying.

Yeah, that is the only positiv that can come from it. Why continue to renovate an old arena every ten years when you can just build a new one. I know it will cost more, but it is what is needed.

Again I will respectfully disagree. UD arena is a monument. It would be like tearing down the Louve and moving all the art into the P&G distribution center because it was "bigger" (kinda an extreme example, but still... You get my point).

UD arena is basketball. It's the epitome of what basketball should be, from the 1950s feel of the arena to the culture surrounding the spot. It's the way an arena should be.

Now that I think more about it, Wrigley Field is a better example. It's that for college hoops.

I hope they don't kill the character too much with the renovation but I'm glad to hear it is happening.

I've been going to games there for over 30 years. It's time for a new UD Arena.

It's one of the cities few draws from the outside, and could be a bigger draw with a new arena. Ultimately it's up to the university if they think it's a worthwhile investment, but if a renovated arena brings in higher-stakes March Madness games then it may still be a good thing.

And, in my mind it's a new thing 'cause in my day the games were held in "that building" just up the hill from Holy Angels....
