I am located in Sidney and looking for options that we can go on a long weekend. 4th of July went by and we did not go anywhere because we went to Chicago just a month or so back (that too long weekend).
But with another long weekend coming in september, we are not sure where we should head to.
We would prefer something which is max like 6-7 Hours drive from my city. We will probably leave after work early (say thursday assuming fri, sat, sunday is the long weekend) and reach by night (not very late though). And come back on sunday morning/noon so we reach back by late evening.

We cannot do the following so please suggest options apart from this...

Niagara Falls (already been there)
Chicago (done)

What do you want to do? There are so many things a lot closer than that.

Have you considered Hocking Hills, or Put-in-Bay up around the lakes? Check out this link: Ohio | Midwest Living

It kind of depends what you like to do - shop, hike, camp, etc. There are some great options very close to you. Kentucky has some beautiful areas too.

Have fun!!!

Well, that limits a lot of things I would have recommended as they are for kids. I thought your kid was oder. I was going to recommend the caves, Children's Museum in Indianapolis, some of the other ones mentioned, KI, etc.... I'd check tourist sites for Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. There are a lot of great things around here, but most are for kids, shopping, or gambling.

I'll post pictures and info soon.
Otherwise I can forward you a DM I sent recently about good vacation spots and add a few more places

I liked Louisville, but one of its main attractions, its food scene, might be tough with a young child (unless extremely well-behaved). They have a great multi-story kid's museum downtown, Louisville Slugger museum, Churchill Downs, Muhammad Ali museum and a zoo. I also really liked the Old Louisville and The Highlands/Bardstown neighborhoods.

Chattanooga is very family friendly-they have an aquarium, kids' museum, the Choo-Choo, a free electric shuttle, Coolidge Park, and so on. Cave City, KY is also fun for little guys with Dino World.
