Hi All,
My concrete chimney is pulling away from the house. I would like to replace it and the fireplace to a brick fireplace and a chimney covered in vinyl that matches the house. Anyone knows how much it would cost to Demolish and replace the chimney and fireplace.
Thank you.

You'll probably get more opinions if you post this in the House forum http://www.city-data.com/forum/house/

I would recommend speaking with Bill from Flame Tech. They are located in New Castle County.

Flame Tech was at my home several weeks ago because I was having problems with my gas fireplace. I was told that to tear out the fireplace, mantel, surround, and chimney that the cost would be between 7K and 10K. I called Schagrin Gas, the company that actually installed the fireplace, and they fixed the problem for $360.

Definitely get several quotes, but I think you can expect to pay in the thousands.

Why is it pulling away from your home? Perhaps an engineer to determine that, if you don't know that as of now. If there are problems with the foundation you have more to consider than a fireplace.

Bet you're glad you got a second quote. Hope all is well now and enjoy your fireplace this coming winter. This shows the importance of not taking the first quote for major work.

I am glad that you received a second estimate. I had a great experience with Flame Tech.
