As part of his Christmas gift, I want to get my husband tickets for an upcoming act at Dover Downs. Does anyone know how big the auditorium is, and how significant is the difference in seating for the different price tiers? Any other time of year the pricing difference wouldn't matter much, but we keep a tight budget at the holidays so every little bit counts. Is it worth the extra $40 ($20 each) for the best seats?

We went to a show there a few years ago. Dennis Miller, so not a musical act. It's quite a large auditorium -- I was surprised at the size. We were about halfway back, center, not far from the aisle. For our experience, it really didn't matter how far we were from the stage. We thought they were good tickets. But they were a gift, so I don't know where they were on the price scale.

Hi CarrieM. I have never been to Dover Downs either, but am interested in going to an upcoming concert. I tried to research their seating chart, and it isn't very helpful...simply shows that the most expensive seats are in a block closest to the stage, the second tier is in a middle block, and the lowest price tickets are in a block furthest from the stage. Very helpful, huh!?

I did find that the concerts are in The Rollins Center, which according to their website features a 1,700-square-foot stage and accommodates 1,500 for theater-style seating.

Hopefully someone who has been to a show will have better info.

EnjoyEveryDay - We go often to Dover Downs shows, since we're about 10 minutes from there and get free show tickets. The higher price tickets are on a flat floor, in movable chairs. We sat down there once and hated it....couldn't see over big people in front of us. So now, we sit in the elevated chairs towards the back (steps to go up, cheaper, more comfortable, and we can see just fine). We usually sit in the first or second row of the back section, but even WAY back is fine. I never understood higher prices for those movable chairs on a flat floor. We've been to other non-concert dinner events in the Rollins Center, and I've never figured out where they stash all those chairs, and how the elevated chairs fold up. But, I'm not losing any sleep of it! LOL

Thanks rdlr, exactly the info we were looking for! My wife has a bad back and would definitely rather have a more comfortable seat further from the stage.

Now, if you'll just share how I can get some of those free tickets.....
