Hello,

Looking to relocate from Jersey Shore to Newark, DE. I know next to nothing about the state other than it's affordable (compared to NJ) and small. I need information on best school district, areas to stay away from, areas that are good, is it comparable to NJ at all in terms of being congested, crime, etc? Please whatever information that can be provided would help. Looking to relocate no later than 2 years from now.

Thank you

Why Newark, Delaware? Are you relocating because of a job?

Here are some informational links that can help answer your questions:

Delaware Crime Map

https://sexoffender.dsp.delaware.gov...e/neighborhood

Delaware Schools - Delaware State School Ratings - Public and Private

These are my go to links for all my clients who usually had the same questions as you. I feel like areas and schools and all of that is subjective that it's best to use your own judgment based on info you gather. For example our first house was in Brookside and everyone said how horrible that place was and we never had one problem when we lived there and most of the people on our street were young families like ourselves. Our home even backed up to the apartments and never once had issues there either. But people still remembered the bad reputation from years and years ago so that's what they're going off of. So it's always best to go off your own research. I will say that I recommend driving by any place you like at night and during the weekend as you'll get a good idea of the way things are when everyone is home.

One thing that isn't subjective is how low property taxes ;-)

Another place that gets a bad reputation in Newark is Madison Drive, which is behind Studio Green apartments.
