What is the best way to rent a home in Sussex County, Delaware? Husband and I want to move to Delaware in June 2019. Following homes for rent on Zillow & other sites; however, not much to choose from.

There is a realty company called Active Adults Realty that might be able to help you. Not sure if they have a list of rentals available, but they are pretty much on top of the 55+ communities in Sussex Co. https://www.activeadultsdelaware.com/

I am not associated with them, nor do I receive anything from them. We used them to look at some resale homes when we were moving in 2015 to Kent Co. Ended up not going through them (due to some weird rules of the builder we chose) but they seemed competent and nice.

Your best bet for looking for a rental in Eastern Sussex county is the Cape Gazzete. Condo? SFH? Budget?

Does it have to be a 55+ community or just a community that is primarily retirees?

Rothbear, thanks for your response.

This was the first place we contacted; however, Active Adults mainly deals with new homes or resale. They did give me a name of a rental agent but we have not contacted her.

I may go back to them when we decide to actually purchase a home.

Thanks again!

Mary2014, thanks for your response.

We have taken a look at the Cape Gazzete. Not too many homes for rent. Looking for townhouse or single home with a garage not more than $1,500.

The rental does not need to be in a 55+ community; however, when we actually decide to purchase a home, we would like to be in an adult community.

Right now, we need the rental to have the master with bathroom on the first floor.

Thank you.

Heritage Shores is the largest 55+ in Sussex, you probably know. But I'm wondering if their sales office might have a list of homes to rent there since it would be something that might lead them to a sale. In fact, here is one listed.

All real estate companies have rental agents, some larger than others. Here in the Rehoboth area, I know that Caldwell Banker, has an extensive rental dept.

Rothbear, nice house! Not sure if master & bath are on the first floor and there is a $250 HOA monthly fee. Sometimes these rentals make the tenant pay the monthly HOA. Cannot find monthly rental amount.

I will look further.

Thanks for the heads up!
