Hello All!! I'm thinking about moving to Wilmington from New Jersey. Can you tell me which (decent) neighborhood(s) are near where I can take the Septa Regional to Center City Philadelphia? I don't drive at the present time so having access to public transportation is important to me.

I have a son who is in his last year in high school and was wondering how the school systems are?

Thanks so much in advance!!!

Tough question. If you don't have a car, and you need access to SEPTA, you may want to look into an apartment at Christina Landing, on the Wilmington Waterfront, which isn't far from the Wilmington train station.

Last year in high school - it's probably too late, but choice him into Alexis I. DuPont, or maybe try to get him into the Charter School of Wilmington.

If you don't drive, you will need to live in the city, otherwise you'll be looking at a commute to your commute.

Try the area code of 19806, and some of the 19805 area codes. Some of 19805 can be bad, so make sure you use Google Streetview and check out the amount of trash on the ground, and the amount of broken houses to gauge the crime rate.

Anywhere along Pennsylvania Avenue and up Lincoln St. (in the neighborhood between downtown, Trolley Square, and up through Little Italy,) are along bus routes which could get you to the train station within 10-15 minutes.

I'll remind you that the buses are frequently early or late, so you'll need a nice margin for a safe, on-time commute into CC Phila. Septa trains are almost always on time.

Let us know if you need anything else.
