Default Flagstaff Road, Boulder

Hi Jer084 -

I live in the Denver area, but love Boulder and like to take visitors to Flagstaff Rd. in Boulder. You take I-25 North - to 36West into Boulder. Exit Baseline Rd. then follow it through town to Flagstaff Rd past Chataqua Park. The Boulder flatirons at the base are beautiful and famous. Huge, jagged rocks look like irons standing on end on an ironing board. It's a very steep road which soon takes you to an overlook where you can park and see the university town. Boulder Falls is close by and it's quite common to see elk too. Have fun. Sumisu

I've been lurking these forums for some time as I am planning on moving from the east coast (from NY, currently living in DE) out to Colorado next summer. I've never been out to CO before, and am taking a short trip in a couple of weeks.

I understand all of Colorado isn't as gorgeous, green, and mountainous as people tend to imagine all of the state being, especially near Denver where I'll be flying into. I will be visiting Boulder and Fort Collins during my four day stay. Although I would love to dedicate a full day to scenic driving at Rocky Mountain National Park, time won't allow that.

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend any shorter, especially beautiful drives (Perhaps 'on the way' to Boulder or Ft. Collins, or sort of in those directions) that wouldn't require a tremendous amount of time?

Thank you so much! I cannot wait to visit.

-Jared

Where's a good place west of Denver to go for a weekend this time of year?

Depends on what you want to do, if you are looking for high energy outdoor activities or to walk main street and shop. Most of the towns out west of Denver in the mountains revolve around skiing which will still be going on into April. Rafting, hiking, biking and golfing wont really get going until May.
