This is a follow up of a thread on "Urban Planning". I thought more credible results could be obtained on a city thread. "Grocery store" can be left to individual definition, but the store should sell food.

Obviously the fact that I don't live in Denver or even the US invalidates my answer.

^^Well, it's on the Denver forum, so I suppose most participants live in the Denver area somewhere. It doesn't matter that much. My purpose is just to gather a random sample.

Less than 2 blocks (neighborhood blocks) for me to both a grocery store (2 actually) and a department store, about the same to a library, a half dozen restaurants, etc...

I think your results will be skewed though. Internet users who participate on forums like this tend to be a bad cross-section IMHO. We're "different" (more thoughtful/involved in our daily lives).

Ok, well anyway, I live on a main road in a village and have a grocery store almost immediately across said road. Very convenient.

Yep. I'm lucky enough to have three to choose from that are all within a 10 minute walk. (okay, farthest store might be more like 15 minutes, but still -- very close)

I live about a 20 min. walk from a store that sells edibles, and two miles from a "real" grocery store.

Either you walk VERY fast or you live east of Belmar to be a 10 min walk to Viet Hoa, but then you wouldn't be 5 mins from King Soopers.

Using a website like Get Your Walk Score - A Walkability Score For Any Address might be a better indicator/equalizer.

I'm a 68 (which is average for Denver)
