Single mom moving to Denverish area. After a TON of research I'm more confused than ever. I lived in Denver more than 15 yrs ago, so any info I did know, is totally not applicable now.

Can anyone recommend a safe, relatively inexpensive area of town for living. Driving/Traffic aren't really issues since I'm from Houston and it can take an hour to go 11 miles

I want to give my kids a community they can really grow and thrive in. But I just don't know where to look anymore for REAL information.

I can say we are really looking forward to the climate change!!

Except for some newer construction, it's pretty much the same as when you left. Where did you live? What did you like about that? Where is work? What kind of community are you looking to give your children?

Lived in Lowry, so I was military and my living experience in Denver would be different than someone that was a resident there. I knew a bit about that area just because of the families that lived off base.

Just looking for some place where my 15 and 10 yr old can get off the school bus and walk home w/o being exposed to drugs or violence. Where I know they can be at home til I get there and be relatively safe minus their own ignorance. Also, where they can make friends, and there are activities like hockey, softball, etc. Really just a family friendly area, where we can walk to some shops and stuff.

Like I said, driving isn't really an issue. I'm only looking to rent. Apartments preferably since they are less expensive to maintain and I don't have to worry about a yard.

check out Stapleton. They're super family-friendly and the homes (there's a whole range in the area) have small lots, so the yard won't be an issue. They have a rec center and walkable shops as well, and it's nearish Lowry, where you're familiar with.

Thanks for the info. Will def check into Stapleton. I am really looking for a walkable area as a community.

Have postponed move til Dec to get more situated and take a couple of trips up to look at more neighborhoods.
