Which neighborhood for a single mid-20's guy? (Denver: apartments, neighborhoods)

Hey!

So I'm looking into moving to Denver in the next couple months. I technically lived there last year, but it was for a job that had me travelings mostly and only in the city for a couple weeks at a time. I really liked it though and want to head back.

Are there any neighborhoods you'd recommend for decent apartments in 650-900 range for a one bedroom? I have friends in the Capitol Hill/uptown area, and others a little farther south by wash park. Not necessarily needing to be right there, but it wouldn't hurt to be close by. I'd like a neighborhood that's either walking distance to, or at least accessibly fairly easy by lightrail or buses, the usual: cafes, book stores, music venues, bars, restaurants.

If anyone has any input, I'd greatly appreciate it.
