If you go into Casa Bonita without expecting to be served five-star rated Mexican gourmet food on a silver platter, it's not bad. I don't understand all the food complaints. What were you expecting? Sure, it's definitely overpriced for what you get (~Taco Bell quality in my opinion, but that doesn't make it "bad"), but that extra price goes to running the huge place, and the atmosphere makes up for it. It's a fun place to take out-of-towners or to go with a group of friends every once in a while.

Exactly. Casa Bonita is nothing more than a kitschy tourist trap that happened to catch on.

We like Casa Bonita. Totally unique. The food is OK. Sometimes pretty good and sometimes pretty bad. Very inconsistent but we don't go for the food. It is an evening of silly entertainment, especially for anyone who hasn't been. If I were to improve something it would be the food.

Did somebody already mention that the food sucks?

Saying that the food is a good as Taco Bell food is an insult to Taco Bell. The sopapillas are the only thing worth eating.

Well, I would add more/different entertainment. The mariachi band is very good, the gorilla skit/melodrama is very tired, the cliff divers are okay. Maybe you could add Mexican dancers.

Chuck E Cheese has horrible food and has survived. Its obvious the food is never going to be their focus because kids love it there and we all know kids drive most family decisions like where to go out to eat.

When I lived in Denver, my parents visited and I took them to eat at Casa Bonita. My mom later called it "that place where they serve mexican food that is so bad they make you eat it in a cave so dark that your friends won't see you!" I thought that was classic!

This news was anticipated in the redevelopment market. The property is worth much more than having a restaurant past its time. This whole shopping center, JCRS, is a prime area of redevelopment as it is very near to a rail station, at Lamar, on the West line that will open in April 2013. I just took a ride along the this new rail line, this past week, and it is very apparent that there will be much development.

Just a little note of history. JCRS stands for the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society which was a part of the original property that served tuberculosis patients, as Denver was a leading destination for relief from this illness. It was latter named the American Medical Center and Hospital and the original buildings are behind off Pierce and become known as the AMC Cancer Research Center. The property was closed and sold, I think about 15 years ago, and became the Rocky Mountain College of Arts and Design.

I would simply improve the food and perhaps keep the costs to a minimum by offering everybody those Old Mission T.V. dinners and serve them right in the tins they come in with a serving spork and a pricey drink request... two dollars for water and 4 bucks for the Dos Equis.

What changes would I make? Make it bigger! It seems huge to a kid already, why not? And yeah the food sucks but kids are dumb like that.
