We moved to Denver about 1/2 way through this last ski season and only got to ski a couple times. We bought season passes for the 12/13 season but since we don't own any equipment, I assumed we would have to rent for every trip or buy. But then I heard you can rent for the whole season. So I'm curious if anyone has ever done this and if so, can you recommend any ski shops in the Denver area? Thanks!

Default Two options

1. You can rent by the season. Contact stores such as:
Colorado Ski and Golf - The Real Deal! | Colorado Ski & Golf
Larson's Ski & Sport Home
Voted Best Ski and Snowboard Shop in Denver, Colorado 4 years in a row // Eskimo Ski & Board Shop
Ski & Snowboard Rentals @ SkiRentals.com. Book & Reserve Ski/Snowboard Equipment Online - Index | Home
Ski Rental

2. You can buy cheap.
a. SNIAGRAB - awesome bargains on Labor Day weekend
b. Colorado Ski & Gold has the equivalent
c. Used Sports Equipment Denver Colorado Sell Sporting Goods is a GREAT source for used gear

Renting skis for the season is great for kids, who will likely outgrow the skis after 1-2 seasons. That's what we did for our kids when they were little.

Rent for the kids, buy for adults. Now(ish) is the best time to buy ski equipment. Colorado Ski and Golf has a big August sale where the try and get rid of all their old stuff.

MY experience with the "sales" is you get rushed and pressured into buying something by some inexperienced temp hired for the mad rush. Go back a week later, after the "sale" ends, and prices are just about the same and you can take your time.

I've noticed that too. I don't think Sports Authority's "Sniagrab" is a sale at all; it's just a gimmick to get people in. And it ends up being a human zoo. In past years I've noticed skis that were the exact prices as before the "sale."

You have to dig. I bought a pair of skis for $19.95. They were last year's model. List price was $700.
You have to dig.
Do your research.

Thanks everyone! This all started from a conversation I had with a sales associate at SA. He said since I'm a beginner it would be better to rent due to the fact that I would be eventually getting more advanced and would need to buy/replace/upgrade to more advanced equipment later. Then he mentioned seasonal rentals, thus my question. So does his logic make sense? Thanks again.
