Hey guys! My friend and I are single, early 30's, looking for a change of scenery from NY. Were both originally from the Midwest (Chicago and KS), and after living here for so long, we think were just ready for a more laid back, outdoorsy environment. (Ive been here since 1999, shes been here since 2009). Were considering places btw the city and the airport. Also, want to avoid a "college town" scene and live near people with our demographic. My friend may take a traveling position so areas near the airport would be helpful. I am fortunate enough to go anywhere (traveling physical therapy) so I am flexible. Also, looking around $700-$1100 rent...(Still so much cheaper than NY haha) Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!
Thank you!!

Search this forum for: "where to live". It's all been discussed before, you'll find your answers there.

I'm trying to put together the standard reply, which is also buried deep in the sticky thread above:

To browse actual available rentals, Craigslist has a great selection. It can be difficult to search against location, so use padmapper.com which searches the CL database plus many others.

Apartmentlist.com is best for those large overpriced complexes that always have a vacancy. These places can be trusted for you out of towners who must secure a place sight unseen. These units are always newish, clean, large and in unwalkable locations.

Speaking of renting sight-unseen, there are two management companies that have a huge market share in Capitol Hill and aren't overpriced. cornerstoneapartments and wheelhouseapts . Boutiqueapartments.com can be pricier, but all their buildings are awesome. Capitol Hill is hands down the best neighborhood for sheer quantity of affordable apartments. It's trendy, safe and walkable to boot.

I presume that you meant "early 30s".

Thank you, Dave, however, the period belongs inside the quote.

Not if you are following British grammar rules as I choose to do so in this case.

Good luck living near the airport. I don't understand why Denver put the airport in the middle of nothing and nowhere. It takes me almost 35 minutes sometimes longer to get to the airport from the city.

I work with tons of people that moved from NYC to Denver, and none of them regret it at all. It's a slower pace out here, but there's still enough to do you won't be bored.
