I have been preusing the threads about various areas but some are a bit dated. I wondered if anyone could give me an update on the "Clayton near Schafer Park" area. I have seen a nice property to rent on the top end of Millwaukee St.
The road looks nice and the houses look well kept etc. It's close to town and looks good to me. I'm not afraid of multi cultural areas, I grew up in London, but I don't want to start life in Denver at a bad area.

I would appreicate any feedback.

Thanks

KC

I'm not very familiar with this area (just spent a sunny Saturday wandering around looking at houses) but will throw in my two cents. First, it's definitely a neighborhood "in transition." Quite a few flips of old, beautiful houses are happening. Second, it's very block-by-block right now. We didn't love the area right around Bruce Randolph when we were walking but south of MLK was nice and further north (maybe up where you are describing) might be better as well. Some of the major intersections felt a little sketchy (e.g. Bruce Randolph and York) and that was during the day. But the inner streets were mostly nice and we really dug it. Third, the nicer areas of this neighborhood are very cool. One of the most diverse and "city feeling" areas of Denver. We would actually consider buying around here--especially south of MLK--if we could find something that we could afford. If you are city-minded and aware, I think you'll enjoy it. One tip if you're renting is that you might want to try further west (Five Points/Cole) or further south (Whittier/Skyland) to be closer to fun things, light rail, etc.
