It just all depends on where you are in Denver. The more urban/old the neighborhood, the more walkable it is. I lived in Cap. Hill years ago and could walk to a grocery store, a few shops, a park, bars, etc.

I agree. I live right next to a grocery store and I walk to work which is about a mile right in the middle of downtown. I could get by without a car in that I could feed myself, go to work, and there are a few bars/entertainment things I could walk to, but I would always still have a car here unless I had absolutely no choice.
