I know in the beginning this train to and from Union Station had a lot of problems with breakdowns. Is that still happening?

I have taken the train from Downtown to DIA no less then 20 times over the last two years. I have never experienced a problem. Yes it has had its issues and delays but it has had far more days without any issues.

It's running at about 96% on-time performance for the 2nd year of operations- first year performance was 87%. Passenger counts have also increased substantially as well.

A couple of weeks ago I caught the C Line at Mineral Station at 6:30 am and arrived at DIA by 8 am. Everything seemed fine to me.

It runs very well the vast majority of the time. It's not perfect yet, which is why you hear a lot about its failures, but those are actually relatively rare. I've taken it to and from Union Station several times without difficulty and it's terrific.

There is no light rail to the airport. There is commuter rail to the airport. The commuter rail is getting better. Important to know the difference so you go to the correct tracks as the two are some distance apart at Union Station.

i picked up the sister in law and her (2) teen age boys. every thing went as planned. very stress free. I dont use the lite rail often so here is some things i encountered:

-the credit card reader(s) at the airport were temporary locked up for passengers with certain credit cards.

-there is a RTD smart phone app to auto magic generate a paper free ticket. Get the app. Set the app up with your ticket but dont confirm. If they are inspecting passengers they will announce before they start and you can confirm at that time. Seems the DIA train always inspects passengers for their tickets.

-i used the park and ride at 40th & Colorado. Mid work day there was plenty of free parking for me. The lot is laid out odd but parking in the hidden way back. Its free so not complaining RTD over thought the parking lot design.

-its was only $9 for a round trip to from DIA. I got to help my family with the baggage and did not have to spend 2-4 hours driving. Restrictions apply here; the round trip is valid only on the same day and its $9 just to get on the train. they dont care if you go round trip or only one way. So for me (round trip) and 3 adults still $9 each, even tho they were on the train one way.

things can go so wrong in Denver. Remember:
-the automatic DIA baggage handler.
-the blue horse at DIA killed its creator
-i25 still grid locked the first day after they widened it.

So even tho RTD has recently gone from peacock to feather duster with the A line it was producing fine work till its association the the Denver Transit Partners (DTP) sub contractors. We may have a pedophile for a mayor and his son has first world issues too. The police chief gets speeding tickets. But the A-Line has not slammed into Union Station, not even once. it is safe, on time.

No. It’s commuter rail to the airport. Light rail around the city.
