Hi everyone,

I have been scanning the internet for some information on Denver and came across this wonderful site. My husband and I, both 35, will be moving from the Bay Area (we live in the East Bay, in San Ramon) to Denver in September. His job is relocating us there and while he will work mostly out of the house with a few days in the Tech Center or going to client sites, I have not found a job yet. We plan to rent for the first six months but are not opposed to buying a place if we found the right place.

I am pretty picky about some of the luxuries we have in our area and am hoping to find some good neighborhoods in the Denver/Denver metro area.
-close to shopping centers (groceries, gas, drugstores, etc.)
-close to freeway access
-parking has to be easy - we currently have an attached two car garage and want the same - no parking on the street
-safe place to walk dog right outside the house
-quiet residential area with a good age mix (not too many young people, not too many old, and as we start a family soon, want to be in an area with young families)
-low crime rate - we live in a very safe neighborhood and like the idea of being able to take an early morning/late evening run and still feel safe

Here are some of the neighborhoods/areas we are interested in:
Washington Park, Cherry Creek, Highlands, Capitol Hill, Park Hill, City Park, Congress Park, Centennial, Highlands Ranch

Any insight/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
NKP

average age of a denver resident is 36.

Are schools an issue?

Schools are not an issue at the moment - we don't have kids and will likely be a couple of years down the road. I hear Capitol Hill the parking is not very convenient. As long as we have a 2 car garage I don't worry too much about parking. But I do want a safe, quiet neighborhood for my small dog. He likes to run around on the lawn in front of our house (we don't leash him because our neighborhood is pretty quiet) and we 'd like something similar.

You might want to take a look at the Lowry development. Once a working Air Force Base transformed into a mix-use community. It has all the things you are looking for. Between Quebec, Dayton, 11th, and Alameda.

Another, Lone Tree close to Park Meadows Shopping, I-25, Light Rail, and DTC emploment center.

Highland, just west and walking distance to downtown Denver with all the amenities of urban living.
