I have a pretty good size backyard, around 40 x 50 feet.
The back of the yard is next to a street. It's not major street but has decent traffic throughout the day due to schools nearby.
Backyard is pretty much empty except one huge Green Ash tree that's fairly close to the house. In fact, I need to trim the branches soon before the wind hit's again.

Southeast corner has a small (12'x12') vegetable patch so I'm thinking of planting some fruit trees next to it all the way blocking the back.

Plan is to have two apple trees, one plum, one pear etc...
I can also plant at least two more on the east side but that may be little too crowded.
What do you guys suggest?
Need something that won't grow very tall and something that'll fruit soon and plenty.
I'm in Littleton, CO.
Thanks

Peaches do well here. You can prune to keep height down.

I see a lot of cherry trees in my neighborhood. My next door neighbor makes jam out of them.

Peach is in consideration.
Cherry is not that exciting. Let's see.

We have apple trees that produce. My wife made some serious great apple pies out of them and gave away bags of them to friends and family.

^^Last year seemed to be a banner year for apples! Everyone was giving them away. I'd never seen that before, in 35 years here.

Last year was excellent for apples in the south metro, too, and four or five years ago this neighborhood had a similar bumper crop. Seems to me that was also a good year for cherry plums. I harvested a couple pounds of them from a tree up the street. I'm pretty sure I was the only one who realized the fruits were edible. They made a nice jam.

When we lived in SW Denver we had 2 apple and 2 sour cherry trees. Miss those 2 cherry trees. Sometimes, my jam would not jell and we had cherry sauce for pancakes, ice cream............oh yum.

What do you do to keep worms from the apples? Something safe, to spray; don't want to injure birds. I had a ton of apples on one tree, (in Colorado Springs area) but they had too many worms.

We had 3 at my last house. Every few years we would have softball sized peaches. So delicious.
