Looking for a deli or store that sells something akin to real homemade potato salad? Whole Foods used to have good potato salad, but in the past year or so, it's gone downhill. The King Soopers variety - potato salad in a carton and very high in sodium - just isn't at all like homemade. I live near Cherry Creek S/C. Thanks!

Safeway's deli has a deviled egg potato salad that is awesome.

tabbark813 - thanks so much for answering. The deviled egg potato salad at Safeway is 'processed' potato salad that comes in a carton. Very high in sodium. I know it tastes reasonably good - but the sodium content is sky high. What I'm trying to find is a deli - or a specialty store - that makes their potato salad from scratch, like homemade. I don't have the time or inclination to make it myself, although I have an exceptionally good recipe. Whole Foods Market has potato salad that is made from scratch, but in the past year, they've changed their supplier, I think, and the potato salad just isn't as good as it used to be. Think they call theirs 'classic potato salad' and 'herb potato salad'. Both used to be exceptional, and I did need to add little salt because their recipe uses little salt, which is good so people can salt to taste. But something has changed with the recipe and it's definitely not the same as it used to be. I may need to just whip up a batch myself one of these days.

skydog77 - you are so right. Looked at Marczk's website. They do have truly homemade potato salad using Pete's mom's recipe. I will try it. A big thanks to you, skydog!

davebarnes - Ok, here's what just went down ....

Googled Edwards Meats - called their store. Asked whether they make their own potato salad right there in the store. Yes, the do!! She gave me a run down on what's in it...one ingredient was sour cream, and I think she also said 'bacon'. Sounds like that is worth a try. Thank you!!

If you go to Edwards, be sure to get a pint of baked beans. They are very close to crack cocaine in terms of addiction powers.

If you are inclined to try making your own to be able to use your exceptionally good recipe, consider getting an Instant Pot (electric pressure cooker). Super easy way to make perfect potatoes for potato salad and if your version includes hard boiled eggs, you can even cook them along with the potatoes.
