I have already changed my address for my license and my car registration. I saw something about needing to change the address on your car title as well, but I can't find a ton of information about it. Is that really necessary? Honestly I never did it before, and I moved twice when I had my old car. There doesn't seem to be a way to do it online and I obviously don't want to make a trip to the DMV if I don't have to.

I don’t know if it is required in CO, but I did it when I moved to WA and changed it back when we returned to CO. It wasn’t a big deal. I prefer that title to a major possession be updated.

AFAIK it is not required. There is nothing on DMV's website re a process or form. (although they will surely take your money to issue a new one if you really want )

FWIW, I have sold 3 cars in CO with old addresses on title. No problems.

As a buyer of many used vehicles in CO, I'd prefer buying from someone who has an in-state title. Saves me from having to get a VIN verification.

Not a CO resident, but with the Real ID "thing" coming up in 2020, one of the documents needed is proof of residency and in CA they accept vehicle registration as acceptable.

Just tossing that out.

FWIW, I took the OP's post to mean an IN-state address change, not OUT-of-state.

Also FWIW, , in 1977, I moved from IL to CO, and was told/allowed to keep the IL title, but with CO license plates. In 1981 sold the car in CO, with no issues re IL title. However, that policy may have changed since then.

If OP is still concerned, he should call DMV and ask.

OP is talking about titles, not registrations.

Thanks for the information! I'm not going to pursue it as it doesn't seem like it's required. I had just googled some lists of where you need to change your address just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. The car title wasn't on most of them but I did see one thing that said something about it not being "valid" if the address is wrong. That must be incorrect seeing as no one seems to know anything about it and I can't even find a process to do it other than show up at the DMV.

I'm moving from another CO address (actually even within the same county) so it's already in state. And like I said in the OP, I've already changed the address for my license and registration.

Moving within the same county, I wouldn’t bother updating the title.
