As the title says. Are there any sketchy or less than desireable areas in Castle ROck (in the city itself)? If so, where?

I don't live down there, but according to the Neighborhood Scout website that compiles crime stats, it's generally safer than the rest of Colorado.

I have visited quite a bit, and the downtown area is pretty quaint. There definitely does not seem to be as much of the homeless and vagrant problems you observe in and around Denver.

Castle Rock isn't old enough to have bad areas. 95% of the town has sprung up in the last 20-30 years. It's becoming a haven for anti-government militia types. Militant nutjob (and Big Lie originator) Joe Oltmann and his school board "militia" are based there. Their water situation is in flux because city leaders didn't have the foresight to stop using non-renewable water sources. Something like 90% of their water is pulled from the aquifer. It's a pretty area, but the negatives outweigh the positives for me, personally.

I grew up in Castle Rock. Since then (a span of 10 years or so), it's about doubled in size. Still, there are no bad areas, the whole town is rather safe. You may end up with some neighbors you don't want to talk politics with (likely right-wing and a little loony. Just stating realities here).

Beware any "dinner party" invitations as that may mean a whole lot more than just dinner.

Oh the irony of posters warning about politically oriented folk when they themselves jump right to that in their posts. Pot meet kettle.
