Our elementary aged kids liked pools, lots of pools, all kinds of pools. And waterfalls you could climb under or slide over. (Be very cautious about the 'froth zone' of waterfalls. No buoyancy. Very easy to get drawn under and drown). Be wise ,and more importantly, make your kids wise.

Horseback riding is also good. (I grew up able to ride into RMNP from our ranch).

My mom says... every day I came home from school; Dog met me at the bus, came to the house to get my rifle, headed out with the dog and horse and never came home before dark. Not bad for daily adventures (in solitude)

Climbing adventures would be good too.

Consider Snowy Range (west of Laramie) and Vedauwoo (east of Laramie). It's a great place to camp during meteor showers (Lay on a warm rock, the size of your house and watch for meteors. Saratoga (Hobo hot springs) and Encampment (living history museum) are nice too. Seldom crowded.

The Coors Brewery Tour in Golden is cool. I enjoyed this sort of thing when I was in elementary school -- found it fascinating.

More of an overnight -- but the Country Boy Gold Mine tour in Breckenridge is fun and you could also explore the historic town.

Not a must dos but right in Denver there is the mint, an aquarium, and the Molly Brown house.
