Drive to Denver! (motel, places to eat, vehicle)

HI! I will be driving to Denver from Sacramento soon. Does anyone have any advice, and recommendations for stops, good food, sights to see, and weather preparations??? Thanks! Diane

Be prepared for stormy snowy weather which can reduce visibiity or make the roads difficult, if not impossible to travel.

Have adequate clothing, food, water, and a sleeping bag in your vehicle for a possible enroute stop between towns. A snow "brush" and ice scraper will be handy to have.

Keep in touch with the weather and road reports, and be mentally prepared to stop early if the conditions ahead are poor. Better to stop early in a town with a motel and places to eat than be caught out and struggling to make the next town which may be "sold out'". If you do make it in this situation to a larger town, head for the Wal-Mart ... they'll let you park in the lot and there's supplies there, too.

Of course, good tires and vehicle condition are essential before starting out.
Services enroute may be few and far apart.

You'd best be prepared with your own tunes, as your radio may "break" enroute and only be able to receive C&W stations for a long time. (Although, if C&W is what you like, you'll be in great shape ...).
