We really love Highlands Ranch. We didn't think we would but if you have kids, it is a great place to be. We looked at Lone tree and Centennial/ Littleton as well. We found some great homes but the neighbors were older and therefore there were less kids. The ammenities of HR are amazing. Please take the time to look at schooldigger dot com for schools. Best of luck to you!

My nickname for Hr is Kidsndogville. If you have kids and dogs; what's not to like in HR?

Lone Tree is more "upscale." Walkable, friendly - closer to I-25 and Sky Ridge.

Centennial is older, more established, closer to job central.

Everyone can find a place to call home. You just have to know what you are looking for to find it.

My family is in Centennial in a neighborhood called Willow Creek. We love it here, and the access to the southern end of the DTC simply can't be beat.

Highlands Ranch is heaven on earth, Thursday night free concerts in the park with all the families, no crime, no pollution, friendly people, minutes to the best shopping in Colorado, right near the tech center, and it actually has more open space than any neighborhood in metro Denver (surprise!). It does have the stigma of being young Denver money (Douglas county is one of the wealthiest counties in the country, was number 1 for awhile). Other stereotypes are that the women are stay at home moms that have GNOs (girl's nights out), get manicures, and shop. The men are supposedly workaholics, lots of young lawyers, brokers, and financial planners, but there are worse things to be said I guess. Cherry Hills Community Church is also in Highlands Ranch and is the focal point and social hub for a lot of the families because they have a top rated school, it's right across from Valor High, and a very active MOPS group for young mothers. It's also a phenomenal, Christ-centered, service oriented mega church with about 7,000 people that attend. Highlands Ranch is not for everyone, but it is a very special place.
