I know downtown living is more expensive, but I was wondering if anyone had any insight on some cheaper options in that area. I am looking for a 1 bedroom and in the price range of under $700/month. I have been looking on craigslist, but figured I'd use this forum as a resource as well. Anyone know of anything?

Thanks

Capitol Hill is probably your best bet close to downtown. Just be sure to check out the parking situation. It can be a real hassle to park on the street and most builidings want to charge extra for a parking spot. If you go east of Cheesman Park, it's a little less congested and quieter but a few blocks further from downtown.

yeah, you can definitely find a decent 1-br in Cap Hill for around $700. Street parking is kind of a pain, but that's all I have and it's not the end of the world.

Thanks for the replies people. I guess I was looking for someone who may live in that area and had building suggestions, but I will take your input and continue looking!

Keep an eye on this thread too. This is not a fast paced forum. Sorry, I don't know anything about downtown living.

Most true downtown apartments will be closer to $1k/mo, in my experience. For $700/mo you'll probably need to look just outside downtown in some of the neighborhoods mentioned, though you might be able to find a studio for that much. I could make some more specific recommendations for $1k/mo.

Capitol Hill is definitely a good area to look. How much room do you require? I lived in a 525 sq ft studio apartment just blocks from the Capitol Building and the Central Business District and I paid $524/mo. Parking was an additional $70/mo, which seems to be the market price in that area. Check out apartments between Broadway Ave and Pearl Street and between Colfax and 6th Ave. You should be able to find a decently priced apartment in that area.
