You're money would go much, much further almost anywhere in Florida because of the high foreclosure rate. Be aware that if you buy there and need to move you might have difficulty reselling your house.
West Palm is very pretty, but the weather is severe.

I'm also wondering how much easier it'd be to find work down in Florida seeing as I primarily work with the elderly :P

Although I am looking for a career change...
