specific apt advice in Capitol Hill/ Wash Park (Craig: apartments, rental)

So I moved here from Chicago for a job. I have been advised my many people a good spot for me (29, single, professional, etc) would be Capitol Hill and Washington Park areas. I took my Saturday to explore these areas. Keep in mind I really don't know where to look within these areas. So my question is what are the preferable areas within these neighborhoods (specifically Capitol Hill), any specific apt complex recommendation and where are the commercial/ retail/ bar areas (by street references). I am looking to move into these areas in the upcoming weeks and just want to get a nice apartment in a nice area that I can walk to fun stuff, etc. Anyone got some reccomendations for me. By the way all I need is a decent studio apartment as I didnt bring much with me when I moved.

Most of the bars are going to be either on Colfax or Broadway with a few hidden within a few blocks of Colfax to the south.

There is a King Soopers (The queen soopers in the local vernacular) between Corona and Downing on 9th. Further down the street at 6th and downing there is a Safeway grocer. The other grocer, also a safeway (sometimes referred to as the unsafeway -- which it is not) in the area is at Park Ave and 20th to the north.

Music venues are mostly along Colfax or Broadway. Generally speaking things start around the Capitol and end around Colorado Blvd to the east on Colfax and are within 20 blocks either way of Alameda on Broadway.

17th Avenue has a large number of places to eat starting right out of downtown and winding down just before York where it runs past City Park.

You might also consider North Capitol Hill across Colfax, often referred to as Uptown, the Cheeseman and even Congress park areas as well as the City Park neighborhood as viable places to live.

The most convenient and heavily used bus in the city is the 15 which runs along Colfax. Proximity to this route will make your life easier.

Without knowing your budget I would roughly look in the area bordered by Sherman to the west, 20th Ave to the north, Colorado to the east and 6th ave to the south. This is a large area with a lot of variety. Prices are going to be more expensive the closer you are to Cheeseman Park and things are going to be more interesting the closer you are to Colfax.

If you really want to be entertained do what I did when I moved here, rent a place in one of the towers around Cheeseman Park, buy a pair of benoculars sit back and enjoy.

Very informative post. Thank You. Does anyone have a better way to find apartments than Craigslist? Such as a large apartment property manager, apartment finder services, rental contact, etc.

I walked around in those areas and there is definitely no shortage of places for rent judging by the fact that it seems every other building has a for rent sign. However this would a long method to see places and get information, hence the appeal of looking them up online first.

BTW, I am open on budget. I am o nly looking for a studio (or a 1 bedroom at the right price). The ones I looked at online and saw signs for during my walk were in the 450-550 range so that was what I was hoping for.

To expand on uptown.... There are two big apt complexes I can think of; Uptown Square and the Park Ave Lofts. The Park Ave lofts are next door to Uptown Square, closer to Park Ave.
Down the other direction, between 18th and 19th and Logan or Grant, there will be more apartments that may be less expensive; I don't know the names though. The Uptown Sq website is advertising a studio for $775.
