My fiance and I were looking at renting condos in the fox chase/ condo area between 16 and Harrison, and groesbeck & Moravian. Some of the condos look very nice, some look run down.. same for the cars. Does anyone have any experience with this area or have any strong opinions about whether or not this is a safe area? Any input would be appreciated! Thank you :-)

Clinton Township is hit or miss. The SE side has a lot of lower income housing and has a fair bit of property crime relative to other suburbs. I wouldn't know anything about the schooling but I'd guess it's satisfactory to average. The west and north sides closer to Hall Road and pretty good and has newer housing. It's not perfect, but it's good for an affordable area.

That Fox Chase/Charter Oaks area is okay. Not great, but okay. It's really starting to show its age, however. Fox Chase is a condominium complex while Charter Oaks is a co-operative. The only reason anyone still wants to live there is because it is in the Chippewa Valley Schools, unlike those trashy apartments across 16, which are in Clintondale. I've been told there may be a problem with the older three story units with the sunken garages, can't remember what- maybe the garage floods or something like that. The apartments immediately to the north and slightly to the east (closer to the railroad tracks, they have flat roofs) are to be avoided. I've heard of purse snatchings and the like at that large shopping centre at the corner.

Other similar housing in the area that seems slightly nicer is a place called Aragona, at the corner of 16/Garfield, which are in Fraser Schools (also okay) and are in a somewhat more desirable area.
