SMART will be adding FAST buses on Woodward, Michigan, and Gratiot routes. They will have limited stops to/from downtown.

Woodward: downtown to Pontiac
Michigan: downtown to Metro Airport
Gratiot: downtown to Chesterfield (23 mile).

I would like to see a Grand River and a Jefferson/Fort st route added as well.

Thoughts on this? Will it be a success? Personally I believe so if everything goes right, especially in the summer.

I was pretty happy when I first saw these announced. It's not BRT, but it'll give me an option to get to/from the airport that isn't bugging a friend for a ride or hoping I can find an Uber/Lyft that isn't on price-gouge mode. Still a pretty long ride for not being that far from the airport, and a dedicated service lane would really improve things here, but maybe the convenience of this will spur things in the right direction, at least from us inner-ring suburbanites? Riding the bus downtown in 35 minutes for $2 vs. driving downtown in 20 to pay $10 for parking (plus my own gas) will be nice, especially if service remains regular and reliable.

I am excited about the airport ride. I think that will be successful especially for business trip. Those working in Downtown, now can hop on a bus and get to airport and onto next meeting out of state without dealing with parking or uber. Also those visiting our city for Autoshow or anything taking place downtown now can use the bus. Hopefully the bus is clean and safe and nice, to make everyone feel comfortable.

I can also imagine people getting job at the airport will be easier. wonder how much it will cost & what does it mean by minimal stop.

The cost will be $2 and $0.25 for a transfer. I can see this catching on to alot of airport users and people who want to hangout in the summer.

Thats great, but I worry about the many ghetto urban stops that could be trouble for riders.
