I am currently considering some options for pursuing an MBA. I would like to find out about the reputation and quality of the MBA program at Madonna University in Livonia. How do employers perceive this school and their program?

There was a recent thread asking the same thing about the Wayne State MBA. Considering that I thought Madonna U was a joke until I looked it up, I'd be reluctant to recommend someone going there for an MBA.'

MBA's area dime a dozen and further employment will depend on experience more than whether or not someone has an MBA. It's not hard to get an MBA.

Madonna University?

What about Bob Seger State College?

Jack Kevorkian Medical School?

Marshall Mathers Community College

Michael Moore school of Government and Media.

or

Iggy Pop beauty school?

I don't want to sound insensitive, but I had similar thoughts upon seeing the thread's title. I had to look up the name 'Madonna University' to verify that it was legit.

If someone's employer is going to sponsor their MBA at Madonna U, it may not necessarily be a bad thing to earn the degree. That said, I doubt that earning an MBA from Madonna will do much (if anything) to advance one's career moving forward.

If the AACSB accredited programs are a dime-a-dozen and of little value (except for the major programs), you really have to ask yourself what you'll get from a non-accredited program.

Everything I've read about MBA degrees in the last 5 years or so suggests that anything other than the top 10-20 programs in the country is usually a waste of time and money.

If the company is paying and you will automatically get a promotion upon completion of the program is probably the only case in which it would be worthwhile.

Whether it's fair or not, the first thing that employers' will think about after seeing a resume with "Madonna University" on it is....Madonna. You know, "Lucky Star", "Material Girl"...etc.

The advice I was given was that, for an MBA, if it is not at least a top 50 school it will probably not be worth much and it will take a long time just to make up what you spent on tuition. Better to try to grow in your company or get into a Tier 1 (1-30) or Tier 2(31-50) school. If you're able to get into Ross or Broad, then I would definitely go for it.

Keep in mind that there are PLENTY of AACSB accredite MBA programs whose MBA degrees aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

I agree about Madonna University, though my favorite Madonna song maybe different from yours; lol!
