I was never put on meds and only told to change my eating habits a bit. I'm a long time vegetarian (not vegan) for 30 years or so. The Doc told me to cut out potatoes and switch to diet coke. I hardly drink coke, but changed to Coke Zero. I don't eat potatoes often, but try to watch my carb intake. I went too far by watching them at first and lost too much weight (I'm in the 120 range). Anyways, my A1c went up from last time from 5.9 and the time before I think it was 5.4.

sounds like this could be borderline/pre diabetes not from weight but just how your metabolism is. you could probably be able to lower your a1c with some dietary changes and exercise at those readings. try getting a glucometer and take your sugar readings pre, post meals, and upon awakening to see if you are getting any high readings

My Doc didn't think I needed to check myself, nor the nutrient lady I went to see since I was concerned in the beginning. I fail to eat lunch a lot of times and/or eat a specific time each meal daily. That could be my whole problem which I don't know how to solve.

if you skip a meal you may be overcompensating for the missed meal by loading up on too much which may be giving you bouts of temporary hyperglycemia

if i skipped a meal id have to find a way to incorporate my metformin into the day because im not supposed to take metformin on an empty stomach

That's true. Within the past month, I saw a different nutrient who was more geared to natural healings with vitamins and herbs. He suggested that I need to have a smoothie with a supplement that had more protein than what I am getting. I get protein, I just don't eat meat and that is where we were differed. So, I'm trying to include that but haven't been good with it.....but am trying.
