Some background: I started a weight loss and exercise program last month and have lost ten pounds and a few inches so far. But I was stuck at the same weight for three weeks and was looking for some help everywhere. I was eating about 1400 calories per day, but never kept a food journal, just estimated as I went along with each meal. So I decided to start a log of exactly the kinds of foods that I'm eating regularly and how my calorie intake goes. I'm 5'4 170, workout with yoga, cardio, and circuit training six days per week for about 30-40 minutes a day. Not very physically active outside of those morning workouts.

I started this log last week just to see how many calories I'm taking in. This was very painstaking and stressful for me because I hate counting calories, writing down every single item and adding stuff up, etc. It's bothersome, time-consuming, and not a normal way to live. But I figure keeping a journal for a week could give me some idea and help get some feedback from others on whether my eating habits are on track for fat loss. I've been told by many that my calorie intake should be around 1700 and less than 2000 calories per day based on my weight, and also based on my exercise program. Some have said as long as I stay over 1400, I'm fine.

So here's my log for this past week, and the last one I will ever make!

Any feedback would be helpful.

I couldn't see what you ate but I started counting calories back in April 2010. I counted calories in a food journal for about 6 to 7 months and I can tell you, it makes a difference because you will really see what you are putting into your body. I eat around 1200-1500 calories a day but I'm a big girl! When I started, I was 350 pounds, I'm now at 244 and need to lose 54 more to be at a weight that will make my doctor happy. I'm 5'10" though.

I will admit, it is HARD...I always counted my numbers before agreeing to go out to eat with people but I got to the point where I kinda know what's in certain stuff so I don't worry anymore. I figure if the description of the food says gooey, cheesy, scrumptious, fantastic or whatever...it's probably something I shouldn't be eating!
